Essay on Faith

The Condition

You already know something is wrong. Not wrong like a bad day or the wrong job or the wrong relationship. Wrong at the level of your soul. That knowing — the one underneath all the noise of your life — is not anxiety. God put it there.

"Here is what it is telling you: you were made for God, and you have been living without Him."

The Bible has a name for the distance between the life you were made for and the life you are actually living. It is called sin. And sin is not just the wrong things you have done. It is the orientation you were born with — the one that says my way instead of God's way.

Romans 3:23 says: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (ESV) That includes you. That includes everyone who has ever lived.

You cannot close that distance on your own. Being better is not the answer. Going to church is not the answer. Trying harder is not the answer.

Nothing you do from the outside changes what is broken on the inside. Only God can do that. And He made the way through Jesus.

Crucial Context

Before You Take This Step

Following Jesus is the best decision you will ever make. It will also cost you everything you have been building without Him.

Jesus did not promise His followers an easy life. He promised them something worth far more: His presence in every hard thing. There will be days that are brutal. There will be seasons where obedience is the only thing keeping you moving.

The goal of the Christian life is not comfort. It is the ongoing process of sanctification that leads to outward transformation — becoming a person whose soul is being formed into the image of Christ. That kind of change does not happen without endurance, and it does not happen without truth.

So do not come to Jesus because your life is falling apart and you need a quick fix. Come because He is Lord — and because the life He is offering you is the life you were actually made for. Matthew 5:6 says: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled." (NKJV)

That hunger in you is not an accident. It is an invitation.

Prayer of Salvation

Words alone do not form you, only Christ does. If these words reflect the hunger in your heart, speak them honestly to God.

"I confess that I am a sinner and have a need for Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I have lived by my own rules, my own will, and my own way, and I stand before You in need of Your grace, Your mercy, and Your redeeming power."

"I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He died on the cross for my sins, rose from the grave on the third day, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for me. Lord Jesus, I come to You hungry for the life I was made for."

"Your Word declares that You were wounded for my transgressions and bruised for my iniquities, and that by Your stripes, I am healed. That healing is not just for my body. It is for my soul, my mind, and every broken place inside me that I have tried to fix on my own."

"I repent. I turn away from my sin and every wall I have built between my soul and Your presence. Today, I place my trust in You, not as a last resort, but as my Lord and my Savior."

"I surrender my life to You and ask the Holy Spirit to come into my life and lead me into all truth, so that I may live a life daily submitted and being sanctified by Your Word. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen."
